(AutoenGadget.com) -The Rayo Vallecano midfielder says that while the prolific Portuguese attacker deserves this year's Ballon d'Or, he is not as influential as his Argentine rival
The Clasico duo have been nominated for this year's Ballon d'Or alongside Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Trashorras feels that Ronaldo deserves to land the prestigious prize, with the Portuguese having played a key role in Madrid's Champions League triumph last season, as well as their current club-record run of 23 consecutive wins.
However, the Rayo Vallecano midfielder, who has represented both Barca and Madrid, still feels that Messi is the superior talent.
"For me, the best is Messi, because he is a more complete player and has much more influence on the play of his team than Cristiano, who seems more of a goalscorer," the 33-year-old Trashorras said in an interview with Uefa.
"But it is obvious that this year Cristiano has been better than Messi, and if it's given to the best player of the year, perhaps Cristiano deserves it a little more.
"But if it is judged by the best [in terms of ability], then it must always be Messi."
Trashorras spent eight years at Camp Nou before a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, but he failed to graduate from the Castilla side and departed without making a first-team appearance.
