Car Review : Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 (2016)

After several teasers, Ford unveiled the new 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, which is the most powerful ‘Stang so far. It also features many design upgrades. If you are interested in this model, keep reading the following review.

Exterior and Interior Design

If you compare photos of the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 with photos of the base 2015 GT model, you will notice that the GT350 received a completely facelift. It looks sportier and more aggressive than ever. Its front end is narrower and the hood (with integrated air vent) is lower. The automaker added the new front splitter, increased the air inlets and grille, removed the fog lights, while the headlamps remain the same. There is also a Cobra badge, Shelby’s trademark. All these additions and changes will have a positive impact on the car’s aerodynamics, thus increasing its performance.

This new model rides on a set of 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels protected by aluminum fenders. Wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. There are air vents behind the front fenders. The rear end also received many changes. There is a new bumper with integrated diffuser and a total of four exhaust tips, two on each side. There is a small, barely noticeable lip spoiler on the trunk. Taillights remain the same.

The 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 comes with an optional tech package that include the adjustable power seats covered in high-quality leather, premium Shaker audio system, dual-zone climate, and an 8-inch LCD touchscreen with MyFord Touch infotainment system.
Standard equipment include the flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel with cobra badging, two new analog gauges, small digital display between them, five-mode driver control system used for controlling the car’s performance, sport seats by Recaro wrapped in a unique cloth, cupholders, center stack full of additional controls and buttons, radio, phone connectivity, etc.

Powerful Engine and Performance

The 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is now powered by a 5.2L naturally aspirated V-8 engine that uses flat-plane crank and delivers more than 500 horsepower and more than 440 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful unit so far. The exact figures were not revealed, but all this teased power will allow the car to reach the speed of 60 miles per hour in less than 4 seconds, while its top speed could be more than 175 mph. Engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

2016 Shelby GT350 Release Date and Price

Ford have not announced the price tag for the new 2016 Shelby GT350, however experts predict that the new Mustang’s price should not go above $70 thousand dollars. The new model will go on sale during next year. We will know more details in the near future.
